"William Penn and the Indians" - William Penn is shown at center with the Delaware Indians at the time of the Treaty of Shackamaxon. This treaty formalized the purchase of land in Pennsylvania and cemented an amicable relationship between the Quakers and the Indians for almost a hundred years. Penn was the last figure on which Brumidi worked.

Chairman Brady Issues Statement on the Resignation of Chief Administrative Officer Dan Beard

July 1, 2010 (Washington, DC) Today, Chairman Robert A. Brady issued the following statement on the resignation of Chief Administrative Officer Dan Beard:

I would like to commend Dan for his years of distinguished service to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Under his direction, the House commenced several key initiatives, including the highly successful Green the Capitol program. Dan also made our information systems safer and faster. He played a key role in our transparency initiatives, putting the Statement of Disbursements online. Dan deserves our thanks for his commitment to this institution.

As the office of the CAO transitions to new leadership, the Committee will continue its robust oversight of its operation and work directly with the senior management of the Office of the CAO to ensure a seamless transition.
