Help with Federal Agencies

It is often possible for my office staff to assist in resolving problems you may encounter with federal agencies. While my office cannot compel an agency to act in your favor, my office can inquire as to the status of your case and seek a resolution to your problem.

Also check out answers to frequently asked questions regarding veterans, social security, immigration, housing, or obtaining a passport.

Please note that my office only handles case work for constituents of Minnesota's 7th Congressional District. Inquiries from individuals who live outside of the 7th District will be referred to the Member of Congress who represents the congressional district of his or her residence.

Furthermore, the Privacy Act of 1974 requires Members of Congress and their staff to have authorization before they can obtain information about an individual case. Many agencies now accept "electronic signatures." However, your case may require you to fill out a Privacy Release Form giving my office permission to make inquiries on your behalf. If the form is required, my office will be in contact with you after your case has been submitted online.

Additionally, copies of any documents or correspondence that you may have from the agency involved may also be helpful.

Lastly, if you would like to reach Congressman Peterson on legislative issues please use the e-mail form.
