Peterson views tornado damage

On Sunday, June 20, 2010, Congressman Collin Peterson and Otter Tail County Emergency Manager Larry Krohn flew in Congressman Peterson's small plane to survey the 36 mile stretch of damage left by the previous Thursday’s tornado.

“They’re saying this is the worst tornado we’ve had in ten years.  We’ve got a lot of work to do—there’s a lot of property damage—but I’m confident that we’ll be able to get back on our feet,” Congressman Peterson said.

Individuals in Otter Tail County needing assistance can call the county government at 218-367-6367.  General information is available at 218-367-6365.

The Red Cross has also opened temporary shelters in the area and is providing food, health, and mental health services in several communities.  For more information about the Red Cross’s efforts, or to donate to the Red Cross, check here.

Additional information on disaster response is available from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.  The Department also has a Twitter feed for more by-the-minute updates.

In addition, Congressman Peterson’s office stands ready to answer any additional questions individuals or organizations may have.
