SURFACE TRANSPORTATION HIGH PRIORITY PROJECT SUBMISSIONS

Project Title: U.S. 51 / Elvis Presley Boulevard

Purpose: The project involves widening segments of the US 51/Elvis Presley Blvd. corridor for the construction of sidewalks, medians, crosswalks, bicycle facilities, utility relocation and streetscaping.

Project Title: Walnut Grove/I-240 Pedestrian/Bicycle Overpass
Purpose: The project would provide for a dedicated bridge parallel to Walnut Grove Road crossing I-240 in Memphis for pedestrian/bicycle usage.

Project Title: Memphis to Nashville High Speed Rail Feasibility Study

Project Title: Memphis-Little Rock High Speed Rail

Project Title: Memphis Operations & Maintenance Facility

Purpose: The project would authorize new construction or a major upgrade to the existing bus operations and maintenance facility.

Project Title: Multi-modal Mississippi River Bridge

Purpose: The project involves construction of a multi-modal bridge across the Mississippi River, accommodating vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle and rail traffic that can also withstand earthquakes appropriate to the region.

Amount: $7,440,000

Project Title: Rails to Trails Project

Purpose: The project will provide the backbone of an integrated system of sidewalks to connect disparate parts of the county through a multi-use bicycling/hiking/commuting trail.

Amount: $20,000,000

Project Title: Shelby County Interchange at Crump Blvd.

Purpose: The project would enhance traffic operations and reduce the likelihood of accidents along the I-55/Crump Blvd. interchange.

Project Title: University of Memphis Pedestrian Underpass Project

Purpose: The project would authorize an underpass to improve pedestrian and bicycle accessibility, safety and American Disabilities Act needs around the campus.

Project Title: University Transportation Center at the University of Memphis

Purpose: The project would authorize funding for the Center for Intermodal Freight Transportation Studies to conduct an assessment of the intermodal freight transportation needs of the region.
