Haiti Earthquake Relief
My thoughts continue to be with the people of Haiti who are struggling to recover from the devastating effects of the earthquake.  I am pleased to report the good news that the main airport in Port-au-Prince has been reopened thanks to the efforts of the United States.  This will allow humanitarian assistance that is being sent from around the world to get through to the people of Haiti.

My staff is continuing to provide information to constituents who have loved ones in Haiti, whether they reside or are travelling there.   I urge anyone who is seeking information about a loved one in Haiti to call my District Office at 544-4131 for assistance or use the State Department resources below.

The people of Haiti have endured more than their share of hardships from hurricanes and storms in recent years, and the devastation left in the wake of those disasters has only added to the economic challenges facing their country.  The United States has been a friend to the Haitian people, and clearly, they need our support and compassion during this difficult time.

State Department Resources For Those Looking For Loved Ones

A top priority is accounting for the thousands of American citizens who are currently in Haiti. Families of Americans living in Haiti who are trying to find the status of their loved ones are encouraged to contact the State Department at 1-888-407-4747.  This line is experiencing a high volume of calls at this time, so please be patient. Additionally, there is now a Washington-based e-mail address for use by the general public.  Anyone seeking information about U.S. citizens in Haiti can e-mail the State Department at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
