Virginia is a nationwide leader in technology and telecommunications.  The Commonwealth is home to thousands of companies and hundreds of thousands of employees who have helped make Virginia the best state in the country in which to do business.  In fact, high technology provides close to 300,000 jobs in Virginia. Technology and telecommunications companies help stimulate Virginia’s economy, provide good jobs for the best and the brightest Virginians, and produce products and services that are the envy of countries around the world.

Technology is crucial in advancing Virginia’s priorities, from expanding high-speed Internet service to communities on the Eastern Shore to increasing broadband technology in our historically black colleges and universities. My staff and I have worked hard to advocate for funding programs like these because in today’s information age, these services are essential to attracting new businesses and spurring economic development in the Commonwealth.

I will continue to support projects that will keep the Commonwealth’s technology and telecommunications sectors healthy and vibrant.
