I believe that those in positions of leadership have a duty to make sure all Americans are fully represented by their government regardless of where they are from or their individual circumstances.  This is of particular importance with respect to our economic and trade policies.

Since the economic downturn, Congress has worked to stabilize our financial system, put the economy on a path to recovery, and assist those Americans hurt most by this crisis.  Throughout all of these efforts, I have been guided by several principles, including ensuring that the executive branch is not granted excessive power, providing fundamental fairness for American taxpayers, and guaranteeing proper transparency and accountability in our economic policies.
