Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) issued the following statement today in honor of Veterans Day:
“Today we honor our nation’s veterans for all they have done to protect us, to protect our homeland, to protect our way of life. Just like the marble statues that adorn our nation’s capital, members of the armed forces are national treasures. If it were not for their sacrifice, their selfless dedication to a cause greater than themselves, the United States would not be the country it is today. We owe our lives and our prosperity to the United States military veterans that answered the ultimate call of duty.
“On this Veterans Day, I encourage all Americans to reach out and express your deepest appreciation to veterans across the United States for all they have sacrificed in the name of freedom and democracy. Fly an American flag outside your home or business, observe a moment of silence, visit a cemetery to pay respect to the fallen, or write a letter to an active duty solider currently serving our country in combat. Whatever you decide, please don’t forget to thank the veterans of the United States military today.”
