Montgomery County

Montgomery County is most notable for its excellent park and trail system, which includes over 60 miles of trails, connecting greenways, waterways, and parks. Green Lane Park, which spans over 3404 acres, is a beautiful natural sanctuary, offering opportunities for fishing, boating, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities.

Welkinweir, located in Pottstown, is a 197-acre nonprofit arboretum, which offers a breathtaking landscape, and a diverse array of shrubbery.

Montgomery County’s cultural sites include the Montgomery Theater, which offers an intimate theater experience of a wide variety of plays and musicals. Past productions include The Glass Menagerie, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Of Mice and Men, and Cabaret.

In 1777, the Pennypacker Mills were used by George Washington as his headquarters during the Battle of Germantown. Today, the Mills host many historical exhibitions throughout the year and are also a popular destination for school children to learn about their country’s history.

The Souderton-Telford Main Streets are bustling centers of local business for two vivacious downtown communities.

Montgomery County is home to a number of prestigious colleges and universities, including Villanova University, Swathmore College and Bryn Mawr University. Montgomery County Community College’s West Campus in Pottstown, located only minutes outside the boundaries of the 15th District, offers two year Associate Degrees and certificates to students in academic disciplines ranging from the Arts to Emergency Management and Planning.
