boccieri_official_photo_small Congressman John Boccieri was sworn into office as the United States Representative to Ohio’s 16th Congressional District on January 6, 2009. Congressman Boccieri represents Wayne, Stark, and southern portions of Medina and Ashland Counties. He succeeded former Congressman Ralph Regula in office.

Congressman Boccieri was named to both the U.S. House of Representatives Committees on Agriculture and Transportation and Infrastructure. It’s on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee where he serves on the Highway and Transit and Aviation subcommittees. He serves on the Agriculture Subcommittee for Conservation, Credit, Energy, and Research.

Congressman Boccieri is a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. As an aircraft commander aboard the C-130 Hercules, Boccieri deployed in four rotations to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Representative Boccieri served eight years in the Ohio Legislature and one term as the fourth ranking Democrat after being elected by his peers to the post of assistant minority whip. In the legislature, Boccieri advocated for Ohio’s veterans, working families, and the jobs and industries that have built our state.

Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Congressman Boccieri went to St. Bonaventure University in New York on a baseball scholarship. He earned master’s degrees in public administration and business from Webster University in St. Louis. He and his wife Stacey live with their family in Alliance.
