Congressman Barrow Collecting “Holiday Cards for Our Troops” |
Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) is asking folks from Georgia's 12th District to participate in his annual "Holiday Cards for Our Troops" program. This is the fourth year Congressman Barrow has collected holiday cards for soldiers who are recovering from battle away from their families during the holiday season.
The cards will be delivered to soldiers at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. "This is the time of year we ask folks to show their thanks to our men and women in uniform," said Barrow. "Every year so far the response has been incredible. I hope folks will be as generous this year. The men and women who are recovering from battle injuries in our nation's capital are far from their homes, and their homes are just like ours. Being away from friends and family is especially hard during the holiday season. Kind words of encouragement and support can mean a lot." Residents of the 12th District sent in over 2,000 cards for the troops in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Congressman Barrow asks folks to make or purchase a holiday card, write a message of thanks to a service member, and then send or bring the card, unaddressed and with an unsealed envelope, to any one of his district offices in Savannah, Augusta, Milledgeville, Sandersville, or Vidalia by December 17, 2010. The envelopes will be addressed and delivered to service members on behalf of the citizens of the 12th District of Georgia. Savannah: Milledgeville:
