Brown-Waite Joins Colleagues to Request Hearing on CMS Analysis of Democrats’ Health Care Law
“This is a very real crisis for tens of thousands of my constituents”

Washington, Apr 28 - Washington, D.C. -  U.S. Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite (FL-05), and her Ways & Means Republican colleagues, sent a letter to Ways & Means Chairman Sander Levin (D-MI) requesting a hearing on the new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) analysis of the recently enacted health care bill. Brown-Waite released the following statement on the matter:

“At the beginning of this debate, President Obama appeared on national television, looked straight into the camera and told the American people, ‘if you like your healthcare you can keep it.’ Republicans and the American people have questioned this assertion since he uttered it.  This CMS report clearly indicates that we had every reason to find his words suspect.  Now that the bill is passed, where does this leave the millions of Medicare recipients who will lose their coverage?

“Last week, a local Hospice facility in my district was forced to lay off workers due to the impending Medicare cuts.  Many doctors have already declared that they will no longer accept Medicare.

“This is a very real crisis for tens of thousands of my constituents.  I hope Chairman Levin will heed Republicans’ request for a hearing, the American people deserve real answers on this important issue.”
