Washington, Nov 4 -

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) applauded the approval of the Genesis Solar Project by the U.S. Department of Interior, which will be located 25 miles west of Blythe.  The Congresswoman has been a leader in Congress on the issues of solar, alternative and renewable energy production, and has worked tirelessly to support the increased use of these technologies throughout the 45th Congressional District.  According to Bono Mack, the Genesis Solar Project will produce 250 megawatts of energy, enough to power 75,000 to 187,000 homes with clean energy.

“I am very pleased that the Department of the Interior has approved the Genesis Solar Project,” said Bono Mack. “The installation of this solar project will help stimulate our local economy and create nearly 1,100 much-needed jobs.”

“The Genesis Solar Project will squarely place the 45th Congressional district at the forefront of solar energy production. With our unique resources and open lands, the region is ideally suited to become a center of solar, wind and other forms of alternative energy production.  So it is extremely important we keep bringing these types of energy initiatives to the area.”

“The installation of this solar project is a significant milestone, for our community and the future of solar energy that will translate to jobs and economic development. I am proud Riverside County is now home to Genesis Solar LLC. I look forward to continuing my work supporting this and other projects in Riverside County that will harness our local energy resources and help reduce our dependence on foreign oil.”
