Flood Information

Texas has recently been affected by flooding as a result of Hurricane Alex and subsequent weather-related events. As a result, communities across Central and South Texas have sustained water-related damage. Currently, Congressman Cuellar is working with Federal, State and Local Officials to ensure Texas gets the support it needs. As of today, communities in the 28th District are working together to assess damages and submit to FEMA the necessary information to qualify for a federal disaster declaration.

As our communties move forward to restore local infrastructure and homes for their families, Congressman Cuellar's office is happy to assist. Below is information for residents and public officials to use as a resource for moving forward.

If you are a Resident sustaining flood damage or misplacement, please contact your city and county first to report that damage:

Provides assistance related to housing and community development.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) office of Rural Development: 
Provides assistance for agriculture, livestock losses, rural housing and other rural community assistance. There is possible immediate rural housing assistance in some South Texas communities for misplaced families.

Farm Service Agency (FSA):
Provides assistance for crop/livestock losses and agriculture-related assistance. Can help local farmers and rural communities with disaster assistance.

Food Nutrition Services under USDA:
Can provide food assistance for communities and families misplaced and affected by the flooding.

Federal Surplus of Texas, Texas Facilities Commission:  
Can provide temporary and permanent mobile homes for communities through surplus federal property. Available to cities, counties and non-profit organizations so they can provide living shelter for local residents.
