Adler one of only 29 Democrats to Receive the Award

Washington, DC – Today, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) announced that Congressman John Adler is the recipient of the Guardian of Small Business Award. The NFIB's honor goes to legislators who vote to strengthen small businesses.

"Small businesses are the key to our economic recovery," Congressman John Adler said. "I am working to lower taxes and reduce unnecessary bureaucratic red-tape for our small businesses. I am honored to partner with National Federation of Independent Business and our local small businesses to grow our economy and create private sector jobs."

"In the 111th Congress, Congressman Adler proved that he is a champion of small business. The Guardian of Small Business Award is a token of the deep appreciation that small business owners have for elected officials who promote and protect their right to own, operate and grow the businesses."

Congressman Adler is one of the select few to receive the award:

• Only 29 Democrats received the award, while nearly every Republican received it.
• Congressman Adler was the only New Jersey Democrat to receive the award.
• Congressman Adler tied for the second highest score in the New Jersey delegation.

Congressman Adler, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, is committed to giving small businesses the tools to grow our economy. He authored an amendment to the Wall Street Reform bill which the Wall Street Journal said will allow small companies to "create jobs at no cost to the taxpayer." He opposed health care reform, which would not have slowed the growth of health care costs for businesses. His red-flags legislation, which shelters small businesses from burdensome Federal Trade Commission regulations, passed the House of Representatives unanimously. He has also voted for several bills to increase private lending and reduce taxes for small business owners.
