Washington, D.C.—Representative Xavier Becerra (CA-31), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after learning of North Korea’s attack on South Korea island:

“I condemn North Korea’s attack on the Republic of Korea. Unprovoked acts of aggression do nothing to put us on a path toward long-term regional stabilization. All parties must come together to find a diplomatic resolution. The United States will continue to work with our allies in the international community to restore peace in the region,” Rep. Becerra said. “I extend my deepest sympathies to the grieving families who have lost a loved one in this tragic and senseless incident.”
