Our nation's Capital is full of important historical and cultural sights. Reserved Congressional tours of several sites may be obtained by completing the web form attached below. Tickets are provided to residents of New York's 24th Congressional District on a first come, first served basis. For that reason, we suggest you contact us with your dates of travel as far in advance as possible.

U.S. CAPITOL -  Bordered by Constitution Ave to the North, Independence Ave to the South, and First Streets to the East and West.  Phone: (202) 226-8000.  The Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) conducts guided tours of the Capitol from 8:50am to 3:20pm. Monday through Saturday except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Inauguration Day.  Admission to the CVC is free and does not require a ticket.  However, tickets are required for tours of the Capitol and may be needed for other special events.  The CVC visitors' entrance is located underground on the east side of the Capitol, across the street from the Library of Congress and Supreme Court.  Constituents may contact our office about the availability of passes to the House of Representatives Gallery.  Metro stop: Capitol South.

BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING - 14th and C Streets, SW Phone: (202) 874-2330. See how U.S. currency is printed. Public tours run from 9:00am to 10:45am and 12:30pm to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday. Information on extended summer hours can be found on BEP's website. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis every morning beginning at 8:00 am A limited number of reserved tours through Congressman Arcuri's Office are offered at 8:15 and 8:45am throughout the year, and at 4:00, 4:15, 4:30 and 4:45pm during the summer months.  The BEP is closed on weekends, federal holidays and the period between Christmas Day and New Years Day. LIBRARY OF CONGRESS - Jefferson Building, First Street and Independence Ave SE.  Phone: (202) 707-8000. Public tours of the Library of Congress are offered on a first come, first served basis Monday through Friday at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30pm. These free tours are open to individuals and groups of no more than 10. No reservations or tickets are required. Congressman Arcuri's Office can arrange reserved constituent tours at 8:30am and 1:45pm Monday thru Friday.  Metro stop: Capitol South.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM - 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place SW.  Phone: (202) 488-0400. VIP Congressional tickets can be reserved through our office for groups of 10 or less. These tickets may be reserved for a specific day and may be used at any time throughout that day. Open 7 days 10:00am to 5:30pm. The Museum is closed on Christmas Day and Yom Kippur.  Metro stop:  Smithonian.

SUPREME COURT - First Street and Maryland Ave NE.  Phone: (202) 479-3395. The building is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. It is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. The Supreme Court offers a variety of educational programs; Exhibits, which are changed periodically; and a theater, where a film on the Supreme Court is shown. Lectures in the Courtroom are typically given every hour on the half-hour, on days that the Court is not sitting, 9:30am to 3:30pm. Constituents of Congressman Arcuri may also contact his office to obtain a spot on the 2:00pm Congressional reserved tour, which is strictly limited by the Court to 6 tickets per day.  Metro stop: Union Station or Capitol South. 

THE WHITE HOUSE - 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW.  Phone: (202) 456-7041. Tours of the White House must be scheduled through Congressman Arcuri's office.  It is advisable to contact our office at least four months in advance to request a tour of the White House, and six months in advance if planning your trip during the months of March, April, or May. Tours are currently available from 7:30am to 12:30pm Tuesday through Saturday (excluding federal holidays).  Tours are scheduled on a first come, first served basis approximately one month in advance of the requested date.  Metro Stop:  McPherson Square or Metro Center.

The National Mall and Memorial Parks

Officially estabilshed in 1965, the National Mall and Memorial Parks actually protect some of the older parkland in the National Park System.  The sprawling lands are generally located between 3rd St. NW/SW near the U.S. Capitol, Ohio Dr SW and Constitution Ave NW.  Included are the National Mall, Tidal Basin, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.  There are no fees to vist any of the Memorial Parks and they are open 24 hours a day.  However, rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30am to 10:30pm daily except Christmas Day. The Washington Monument - On the Mall at 15th Street, NW/SW.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available at the booth located on the west side of 15th Street, NW, on the Mall. The Lincoln Memorial - West Potomac Park at the foot of 23rd Street, NW and Rock Creek Pkwy. Metro Stop: Foggy Bottom.

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial - South bank of the Tidal Basin - At the Swan Boathouse you can rent a paddle boat to cruise on the Basin.  Metro Stop:  Smithsonian.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Memorial - 900 Ohio Drive, SW, across from the Jefferson Memorial and the Potomac River.  Metro stop:  Smithsonian.

World War II Memorial -Eastern end of the Reflecting Pool along 17th St NW/SW, between Independence Ave SW and Constitution Ave NW.  Metro stop:  Federal Triangle or Smithsonian.

Korean War Veterans Memorial - Adjacent to the Lincoln Memorial in West Potomac Park and immediately opposite the Vietnam Veterans Memorial across the Reflecting Pool. Metro stop:  Foggy Bottom or Smithsonian

The Smithsonian Institution and Other Museums

The Smithsonian Institution - The museums are open daily, except Christmas, from 10:00am to 5:30pm (Air & Space 10:00am to 7:30pm and Anacostia Museum which closes at 5pm.  Extended Summer hours are determined annually.  Smithsonian Information Center:  202/357-2700 (voice) 202/357-2729 (TTY).  Metro stop: Smithsonian or L'Enfant Plaza.




The Corcoran Gallery of Art Museum - 17th Street and New York Avenue, NW - one block west and south of the White House. The main entrance is on 17th Street. Special needs access is at 1701 E Street, around the corner from the 17th Street entrance. Phone: (202) 639-1700 Metro stop: Farragut West or Farragut North.

Department of the Interior Museum - Located on the first floor of the Main Interior Building at 1849 C Street NW. The Museum is accessible from both the C Street and E Street entrances; the E Street entrance is wheelchair accessible.   The Museum is free of charge.  Adults must show a photo ID when entering the Interior building to gain admittance to the Museum. Reservations (two weeks in advance) are required only for guided tours or appointments to view the building's New Deal murals located in restricted-access areas.  For further information, please call the Museum at (202) 208-4743. Ford's Theatre & Lincoln Museum - 511 10th Street, NW.  A fully functioning theater and the historic location of President Lincoln's assasination.  Hours:  9am-5pm.  See a play, visit the museum, or enbark on a guided walking tour.  Telephone: (202) 426-6924. Metro stop:  Metro Center.

The National Building Museum - 401 F Street, NW.  Created by an act of Congress in 1980, the National Building Museum has become one of the world's most prominent and vital venues for informed, reasoned debate about the built environment and its impact on people's lives. A variety of tours that explore the history of the Museum's historic home, current ground-breaking exibitions, local costruction projects, recently completed buldings in the area and more are offered.  Telephone: (202) 272-2448 Metro stop: Judiciary Square.

The Textile Museum - 2320 S Street, NW. The Textile Museum expands public knowledge and appreciation - locally, nationally and internationally - of the artistic merits and cultural importance of the world's textiles.  Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 1pm to 5pm. Arlington National Cemetery - Memorial Drive, Arlington, VA. Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier every hour on the hour & every half hour during the summer months. National Archives and Records Administration - Constitution Ave between 7th and 9th Sts NW.  Summer hours are 10am-7pm and fall and winter hours are 10am-5:30pm.  Tickets are not required, however, early admission guided tours are available Monday through Friday at 9:45am.  Groups are limited to 20ppl.  Call for reservations at (202) 357-5450.  Metro stop:  Archives-Navy Memorial.

The Botanic Gardens - 100 Maryland Ave. SW. Group tours are available by request except Saturday & Sunday or during any shows. Telephone: (202) 225-8333 Metro stop: Federal Center SW.

Folger Shakespeare Library - 201 East Capitol St. SE,  Phone: 202-544-4600 Directions: The Folger is one block from the U.S. Capitol and is accessible by Metrobus. Limited street parking is available. Regularly scheduled, no prior arrangement necessary. Metro stop: Capitol South or Union Station

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts - 2700 F St. NW.  Free tours of the Kennedy Center are given by the Friends of the Kennedy Center from 10am to 1pm daily.  Tours leave every 15 minutes.  They depart from the parking plaza on Level A, and feature the Hall of States and Hall of Nations, the Center's main theaters, and dozens of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks given to the Center by foreign countries.  For more information, call (202) 416-8340 (TTY 416-8524).  Metro stop: Foggy Bottom (There is a free shuttle bus which takes visitors from the station to the center).

The United States National Arboretum - 3501 New York Ave NE.  444 acres of trees, shrubs and assorted plants in the northeast section of the District of Columbia. Metro stop:  Stadium Armory, then B-2, B-4, or B-5 Busses to intersection of Bladensburg Rd and R St NE.  Walk east on R St NE to the gate.

The National Cathedral - 3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Guided tours are given Monday through Saturday from 10:00am to 3:15pm and Sundays from 12:30 to 2:45pm except during special events and services. There is a suggested donation of $2.00 per adult and $1.00 per child for tours. The grounds tour takes you through the Bishop's Lawn and Gardens. You get many details on the plants and trees in the garden. These tours are given on Wednesdays from 10:30 - 11:30am, April through October.

The United States Naval Observatory - 34th Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW. The U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. conducts a free 90 minute tour of its facilities every Monday night at 8:30pm, except on Federal holidays. Reservations are not necessary for individuals or for small groups, but groups of 15 to 30 should call or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The tour includes presentations about the Master Clock, observations through telescopes (weather permitting), a video presentation on the mission and history of the Observatory, and discussions with staff astronomers. The Eisenhower Executive Office Building - 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Next door to the White House. The Old Executive Office Building (OEOB) commands a unique position in both our national history and architectural heritage. Designed by Supervising Architect of the Treasury, Alfred B. Mullett, it was built from 1871 to 1888 to house the growing staffs of the State, War, and Navy Departments, and is considered one of the best examples of French Second Empire architecture in the country. The Old Post Office Pavilion - 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW. National Parks Service offers a tour of the bell tower with a splendid view of the city. The Pentagon - Across the 14th Street Bridge in Virginia (I-395). Headquarters of the U.S. Dept. of Defense and one of the worlds largest office buildings.  Guided tours of the Pentagon are free and are available by reservation only.  Hours: Monday through Friday 9am-3pm.  Sights to see: the Flag Corridor, Hall of Heroes, and Pentagon Memorial. Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens - 3200 Mount Memorial Hwy, Mt Vernon, VA.  Beloved plantation home of George and Martha Washington from 1759-1799.  Visitors are invited to tour the mansion house, more than a dozen outbuildings, stroll four different gardens, and hike the forest trail. Telephone: (703) 780-2000.  Hours:  April through August, 8am-5pm; March, September, and October, 9am-5pm; November through February, 9am-4pm.  Metro stop: Yellow line south to Huntington Station in Virginia. Exit to the lower level (Huntington Avenue) of the station to catch a Fairfax Connector bus to Mount Vernon.

The Department of State - 2201 C Street, NW.  Tours of the Diplomatic Reception Rooms are given at 9:30 am, 10:30am and 2:45pm, Monday through Friday.  Reservations are required and should be made approximately four weeks in advance.  Due to the large volume of requests, reservations can be made up to three months in advance.  Tours may be arranged by contacting the Department of State Tour Office on 202-647-3241, fax (202) 647-4232, or TDD (202) 736-4474 between the hours of 8:15 - 11:30am and 1:30 - 5:00pm weekdays.  The State Department Tour Office is closed on weekends and holidays.  Metro stop: Foggy Bottom.

The Department of the Treasury - 1500 Pennsylvania Ave NW. This building was built in 1836 and since then has served as the headquarters for the Treasury Department. The tour includes the history of the Treasury Department and the building's architecture history. This includes a tour of the Andrew Johnson suite, where, in 1865, President Johnson conducted official business for 6 weeks after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. It also includes the beautiful Salmon P. Chase suite, the Cash room (the site for Grant's inaugural reception), and the 1864 burglar proof vault.  Hours: Saturday morning, lasting 90 minutes. Voice of America - 330 Independence Ave SW.  During free guided group tours, visitors learn our history and how VOA has expanded from the shortwave broadcasts of the 1940s to today's AM, FM, television, and Internet. Our central newsroom, radio, and television studios are featured prominently in the tours, which are approximately 45 minutes long.  Tour Days and Time: Monday through Friday (except holidays) noon and 3 p.m.  Reservations are not required, but suggested.
