Today at 1:00 pm EDT, the chairmen of the House Ways and Means, Energy and Commerce, and Education and Labor Committees will unveil their discussion draft for health care reform. The three panels with jurisdiction over health policy in the House, have been working together as one committee to develop a single bill that fulfills President Obama’s goals of reducing health care costs, protecting and increasing consumers’ choices, and guaranteeing access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans.

Watching the Senate Health Committee yesterday made clear to me that the cost factor for this massive change was too easily dismissed. Credence should be given to the CBO's figures.
The current national debt is alarming and freighting. Where will the funds for this health care come from? The government offering their health care on one hand and excessively increasing taxes or borrowing into oblivion from foreign countries to finance this plan? Proposed taxing of those who already have health care is punitive. Ultimately, the private sector will disappear and everyone will be left with only one option, what the government decides what level of health care it’s citizen’s should or should not receive.

The House proposal will increase choice among an array of high-quality private and public health insurance options. Most importantly, if you like what you have, you can keep it. More Americans will have access to greater choices in doctors and plans by taking away the insurance industry's ability to deny coverage and care.
Under the status quo, middle-class families pay an enormous “hidden tax” of nearly $1,100 per year to provide care for the uninsured and underinsured. The House proposal will end this tax by containing overall costs and expanding access to affordable care for all Americans. Additionally, the House proposal invests in reforms to contain the costs of health insurance overburdening businesses, families and the federal deficit.
