Chris's Committees and Caucuses

House Committee on Financial Services

The Committee oversees all components of the nation’s housing and financial services sectors including banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, and securities. The Committee continually reviews the laws and programs relating to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and international development and finance agencies such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The Committee also ensures enforcement of housing and consumer protection laws such as the U.S. Housing Act, the Truth In Lending Act, the Housing and Community Development Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and financial privacy laws.

Bipartisan Upstate New York Congressional Caucus
According to The Buffalo News, "founded by Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, D-Fairport, the new Upstate New York Congressional Caucus brings together nine Democrats and two Republicans who vow to work collectively to improve the region’s economy."

Congressional Dairy Farmers Caucus, Vice-Chairman
The bipartisan Congressional Dairy Farmers Caucus works with industry leaders, dairy economists, and most importantly, farmers and distributors to reach common sense bipartisan solutions to address the current dairy crisis.

House Republican Economic Recovery Working Group
Est. 2009.  Founded by House Leadership in order to respond to Obama’s call for GOP input on stimulus.  CJL only freshman Member asked to participate in 13 Member panel chaired by Rep. Cantor. 

Congressional Fire Services Caucus

The Congressional Fire Services Caucus unites Republicans and Democrats in support of fire service legislation that benefit all first responders.

National Guard and Reserve Components Caucus
The bipartisan Reserve Components Caucus serves as a forum for Congressional oversight and represents the Reserve Components of the United States military.

Congressional Manufacturing Caucus
The bipartisan Congressional Manufacturing Caucus works to highlight the opportunities and challenges facing America’s manufacturing industries.

Northern Border Caucus
The bipartisan Northern Border Caucus works to address policy concerns and issues affecting the economic, cultural, and political partnership between the United States and Canada.

Anti-Terrorism Caucus 
The Anti-Terrorism Caucus works to help educate the American people about the threats we face from terrorists.

International Conservation Caucus
The bipartisan International Conservation Caucus focuses on educating policymakers and world leaders on the link between conserving natural resources while promoting sustainable economic development.

Congressional Community Pharmacy Coalition

The Congressional Community Pharmacy Coalition works to advocate for continued access to community pharmacies.

Bicameral Congressional Caucus on Parkinson's Disease
The bipartisan Bicameral Congressional Caucus on Parkinson’s Disease was created to increase awareness on Capitol Hill about Parkinson’s disease issues, and as a means to keep Members of Congress and their staffs informed of the latest developments in Parkinson’s-related legislation and biomedical research.

Congressional Multiple Sclerosis Caucus
The bipartisan MS Caucus serves as a forum for Members of Congress, their staff, related organizations, and individuals to discuss critical health care, disability, research, and other issues affecting people living with MS and other conditions.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education (STEM ED) Caucus
The bipartisan STEM ED Caucus seeks to strengthen STEM education at all levels (K-12, higher education and workforce) by providing a forum for Congress and the science, education and business communities to discuss challenges, problems, and solutions related to STEM education.

Coalition for Autism Research and Education (C.A.R.E.) Caucus
The bipartisan C.A.R.E. Caucus works to increase research and general awareness of autism among Members of Congress and policy analysts in federal government.

General Aviation Caucus
The goal of the bipartisan General Aviation Caucus is to inform Members about the importance of General Aviation, which includes all non-scheduled and non-military aviation, to our economy and our transportation system.

GOP Israel Caucus 
The Caucus promotes pro-Israel policy positions and leads outreach efforts to the Jewish community.

Congressional Academic Medicine Caucus 
Educates members on the unique care, research, and training missions of teaching hospitals and medical schools and advocating on behalf of America’s academic medical centers.

Pediatric Cancer Caucus 
To serve as a clearinghouse for information on pediatric cancer and a bipartisan forum to aid members of Congress in working together to address pediatric cancer.

Natural Gas Caucus 
Promotes the use of domestic natural gas and educating Members of Congress and the American people about this clean-burning and abundant fuel option.

Center Aisle Caucus 
Co-chaired by Reps. Chris Murphy and Tim Johnson. The caucus aims to seek common ground on contentious issues, suggest changes in the rules to foster a more productive exchange of ideas, promote civility and discourage personal attacks and insults and foster better relations among members from across the aisle.

Medical Technology Caucus
The caucus aims to educate Members on the unique challenges facing the medical technology sector, including FDA approvals process and CMS payment policies.
