About the Second District
With a tradition of strong representation in Congress, Kentucky’s Second District stretches from the Louisville suburbs, southward through Fort Knox and Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace. The district goes westward to Owensboro and southward to Bowling Green, the home of the Corvette. The Second District includes 22 counties:

Committees
Congressman Guthrie serves on two committees for the 111th Congress, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Committee on Education and Labor.
Congressman Guthrie sits on three Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittees:
- Subcommittee on Aviation
- Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials
- Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management
He sits on three Education and Labor subcommittees:
- Subcommittee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions
- Subcommittee on Healthy Families and Communities
- Ranking Member, Subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, and Competitiveness
As Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, and Competitiveness, Congressman Guthrie helps direct the agenda for the subcommittee and presides over subcommittee hearings.
