McNerney Delivers Pay Raise Donation to the Child Abuse Prevention Council of SJ County PDF Print E-mail

August 9, 2010

Stockton, CA – Keeping his commitment to donate his automatic pay raise to charitable organizations, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11) visited the Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin County (CAPC) last week to hand deliver a check.

Rep. McNerney has been a strong advocate against automatic pay raises for members of Congress.  He has consistently voted against salary increases and helped pass legislation to abolish the automatic pay raise for the coming year.

“I’m glad to offer this donation to the Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin,” said Rep. McNerney.  “This organization provides important services to hundreds of families and children each year throughout San Joaquin County. I’m glad that the Child Abuse Prevention Council is here to serve the residents of our community.”

Lindy Turner, Executive Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin, gave Congressman McNerney a briefing on CAPC services and a tour of the facility.

“It was wonderful to host Congressman McNerney at the Child Abuse Prevention Council,” said Ms. Turner.  “I am thrilled that the Congressman had the opportunity to personally stop by and tour our facility.  It means so much to have him support this vital program.”

The Child Abuse Prevention Council of San Joaquin County (CAPC) is an agency dedicated to preventing child abuse. For over thirty years, CAPC has collaborated with other local agencies and organizations to meet the needs of children and families who are at-risk of abuse and neglect.  Some of the services the organization provides include a 24-hour crisis line, respite and crisis child care, and parenting classes.
