McNerney to Deliver Pay Raise Donation to Tri-Valley Haven PDF Print E-mail

August 11, 2009

Pleasanton, CA – Keeping his commitment to donate his automatic pay raise to five charitable organizations, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11) will be visiting Tri-Valley Haven in Livermore to hand deliver a check at 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, August 11.  This gift comes at an especially challenging time for Tri-Valley Haven, which suffered a $200,000 funding shortfall from state budget cuts.

Now in its fourth decade, Tri-Valley Haven provides shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and their children, counseling for survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse and a restraining order clinic. The Haven operates a 24-hour crisis hotline for domestic violence and sexual assault and is the region’s only rape crisis center.

The other organizations Rep. McNerney is donating funds to include Catholic Charities of Stockton, which offers children’s health, elder abuse prevention, personal care and transportation services, Dignity’s Alcove, a Stockton-based non-profit that provides transitional housing and substance abuse counseling for veterans, the Greater Stockton Emergency Food Bank, which provides packaged emergency food to residents in San Joaquin County, and the Village Community Resource Center in Brentwood, which provides after school programs as well as family support and health services.
