Kanjorski Tours Progress at Bloomsburg Tech Center
Bloomsburg, Pa. - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) today toured the Bloomsburg Regional Technology Center with Ed Edwards, president of the Columbia Alliance for Economic Growth. Congressman Kanjorski secured a $1 million federal grant from the Economic Development Administration of the Department of Commerce for the $5.9 million project.
"The Bloomsburg Regional Technology Center is a tremendous asset for the Town of Bloomsburg. I am pleased to see how much progress Columbia Alliance for Economic Growth has made in the past two years on this project. The center has attracted quality tenants and added to the Town's economic base," Congressman Kanjorski said.
Mr. Edwards said the Alliance was interested in converting the historic mansion into a tech center because there was great potential to expand the number of high-tech and technology-related businesses in the community. The Alliance was also interested in protecting the historic landmark, originally the private home of Edward B. Tustin and his family.
"With state and federal funding, the Alliance has been able to fully restore this historic building and give it a new lease on life for another hundred years," he said.
Following extensive renovation, the Tech Center opened in Summer 2005 and is now home to companies that employ 70 people.
