FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Washington, DC) - In addition to his statement, Rep. Gutierrez wanted to send this additional message to Illinois reporters about his reelection:

I am deeply grateful to the people of Chicago for sending me back to Washington to continue working for them.  On immigration reform, consumer protections, job creation, and securing a bright future for our children we have much work to do, so I am proud to have won their continued support.  Getting anything accomplished in Washington is hard enough, but I fear that losing the House gives some Republicans an even greater ability to obstruct progress towards public policy solutions.  I have served in the minority before and have had some success working on immigration and other issues across the political aisle.  I will extend my hand and hope Republicans reciprocate so we can make progress on immigration and financial reform and continue working to strengthen the economy.
