The Financial Services Committee 

Congressman Paulsen is a Member on the House Committee on Financial Services. In this position, he deals with issues of everyday concern to Minnesotans such as investor protection, the soundness of the banking system, insurance regulation, housing policy, trade and monetary policy, and helping our financial markets function for the benefit of individuals who need credit and businesses that need capital to expand and create jobs.

Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee

The subcommittee oversees all financial regulators, such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Federal Reserve, all matters pertaining to consumer credit including the Consumer Credit Protection Act and access to financial services, as well as the safety and soundness of the banking system. 

International Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee

The Financial Services Committee plays an important role in shaping the nation’s “macroeconomic” policies – interest rate, budgetary, and regulatory policies that affect the general performance of the economy and the economic well-being of all Americans. The Committee’s oversight function for macroeconomic policy is highlighted twice each year when the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board delivers the Monetary Policy Report to the Congress.

Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee

This Subcommittee has jurisdiction of the oversight of all matters within the full committee.

Med Tech Caucus

Congressman Paulsen is the co-chair of the Med Tech Caucus.  As co chair, he hears about advances in medical technologies and meets with those in the industry on a regular basis.  This important caucus helps to drive down the cost of healthcare by improving the quality of information and making it more efficient.
