The 2010 U.S. Census

The U.S. Census is an official, nationwide count of the entire population of the United States. It is required by the Constitution, and is conducted every 10 years.

The census is important for a number of reasons. By measuring population growth and distribution, we can make sure that Congressional seats, federal funds, and electoral votes are all allocated fairly. All information collected by the Census Bureau is strictly confidential, and can only be used to assemble general statistics. Participation in the decennial census is mandatory for everyone in the United States.

The last census was conducted in 2000, and the next one will be held in March of 2010. Census forms will be mailed to more than 130 million addresses across the country. These brief questionnaires ask only 10 questions, and will take roughly 10 minutes to fill out.

Completing your census form is easy, important and safe, and your participation is essential to ensuring a brighter tomorrow for our community. To learn more, please visit 2010census.gov, or click on the widget below.
