HUNTER: BASE CHOPPER ROUTES
ON MILITARY REQUIREMENTS
Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-52nd District) held a news conference today to discuss the flight paths used by helicopters based at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. The Marines are examining the current corridors for possible adjustment.
Responding to the growing debate over helicopter routes, Congressman Hunter said the Marine Corps should choose flight paths which will not endanger pilots or waste resources. “In areas of national security, the best politics is no politics,” he stated.
Hunter, who represents eastern San Diego County and Imperial County, outlined his position in a letter he wrote today to Major General William Bowdon, commander of MCAS Miramar.
