Congresswoman Bordallo Celebrates Election of President Barack Obama

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 5, 2008 – Washington, D.C.

I am excited with the election of Senator Barack Obama as the next President of the United States. Under his administration I am confident that greater attention will be given to the territories. With part of his childhood spent growing up on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, I believe his leadership in the White House will be more receptive to the causes and needs of the territories and islands of the Pacific rim.

President-elect Obama has assured the American people that he will work towards the resolution of today’s most pressing issues. His vision and ideas on rebuilding the American economy, improving healthcare delivery for all, and on restoring the reputation and respect among the community of nations will bring a refreshing view for everyone.

As a Democrat, I am excited that the Presidency and both houses of Congress are Democratic, but I am also confident that bipartisanship will prevail to do the most good for all of America as well as on a global scale. I look forward to working with the 111th Congress and with the new administration.
