December 10, 2008 – Fred urges the House to support low-interest loans to boost Michigan’s automakers and protect millions of American workers.  The loan package passed by a vote of 237 to 170.

Fred speaks to the veterans and students gathered in Coloma High School's auditorium for Coloma Schools annual Veterans Day breakfast. Upton, the son of a WWII vet, expressed deep gratitude to all of the veterans in the audience for their service to our nation.

Fred addresses the crowd gathered on St. Joseph Bluff for the annual Korean War Veterans Day ceremony. During his remarks, Upton said, "From the soldiers who served in Korea fighting the threat of Communism, to the guardsmen and women who left their work and families to fight in Iraq & Afghanistan, we owe a countless many a debt of gratitude for their enduring sacrifices."

Fred visits Coca Cola’s operation in Kalamazoo. During the visit, Coca Cola showcased their two new hybrid electric delivery trucks.

President Bush signs Fred's Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act into law
Upton Appearance

Fred's legislation, now law, raised the amount the FCC can fine for indecent material broadcast over the public airwaves from $32,500 per violation to $325,000. "Today's bill signing culminates a 2½ year journey to deliver something of real value to families across the nation," said Upton following the bill signing.
