Action Alert-July 23, 2008

There is no doubt that Americans are suffering from rapidly rising cost of energy. This is a problem that has a solution, and that is why I have co-sponsored H.R. 6566, the American Energy Act.  This bill will increase the supply of American-made energy, improve conservation and efficiency, and promote new and expanding energy technologies to help lower the price at the pump and reduce America’s increasingly costly and dangerous dependence on foreign sources of energy.

I believe this bill moves America in the right direction, and I am committed to do what I can to see that it comes to the House floor for a vote.  If you want to learn more about the bill click here.  Furthermore, I encourage you to take part in this important issue by contacting me and sharing your thoughts and ideas so that I can take them to the House floor as we debate this important legislation.

Action Alert-May  21, 2008

I am excited to report that my water bill has seen tremendous progress over the last few weeks.  Last month, I circulated this Dear Colleague letter which generated a great deal of support and the bill was passed out of the House Transportaiton and Infrastructure Committee.  To build on that success, today, my good friend Senator Isakson advanced the 21st Century Water Commission Act of 2007 in the Senate as it passed out of the Senate's Environment and Public Works Committee. I encourage you to to follow the link above and read the Dear Colleague letter as well as other information regarding the bill and its potential.

Subject: Linder "Energy Independence" Telephone-Town Hall Meeting - March 18

PRESS RELEASE:  REPRESENTATIVE JOHN LINDER HOSTS ENERGY INDEPENDENCE TELE-TOWN HALL MEETING

Lawrenceville, GA - Representative John Linder (R-GA) has announced that he has scheduled his second telephone-Town Hall meeting for 2008.  Representative Linder’s district encompasses Gwinnett, Walton, and Barrow Counties as well as the northern portion of Newton County and a small portion of Forsyth County.  The Town Hall call-in is scheduled for March 18, 2008, from 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and, unlike Linder’s many previous meetings, will focus solely on energy and the difficult decisions faced by the nation.

“Communicating with my constituents has been a priority for me since I was elected to Congress, and one of the most efficient means of doing that is through Town Hall meetings.  These advances in technology have increased the frequency in which I can converse with my constituents and I’ve enjoyed that.  Unlike past discussions which were open to any topic, I plan to focus our next conversation on energy related issues, and in particular my zeal to see our nation move toward total energy independence.”

With fuel prices on the rise, Linder anticipates a large attendance.  He said that he encourages participants to come armed with their questions and comments on energy to maximize the benefit of the telephone-Town Hall meeting.

“Energy independence has been a topic of discussion for decades, but now we find ourselves in a position where we must act.  With rising gas prices and the ripple effect we see already, Congress must act on a plan that will ensure energy security for America.  That is why I have chosen to focus this meeting solely on energy.  It is important for us to have an honest discussion, to hear your views and ideas, and to share with you my vision for an energy independent United States.”

If you would like to join Congressman Linder on Tuesday, March 18th, simply call toll free, 1-888-989-6513, at 7:30 pm with the passcode, “Linder Town Hall,” and you will be placed immediately into the call.

Just a brief note to ask you to save the date of October 30 for my fourth Seventh District Telephone Town Hall Meeting this year.

The in-person Town Hall Meetings I hosted around the district in August offered a great opportunity to discuss important policy issues, and I am eager to continue that dialogue in October.  I look forward to these opportunities, and they are certainly an efficient way for the entire district to come together and discuss the direction our country is taking.

Please join me on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, for the telephone Town Hall Meeting a little before 7:00 PM.  Simply call 1-888-989-6513 and provide the passcode – Linder Town Hall – and you will immediately be placed into the telephone Town Hall Meeting.

Action Alert -- May 8, 2007

I want to take a moment and share with you some very exciting news about the FairTax.  I just received word that Representatives Darrell Issa (CA-49) and John Boozman (AR-03) have requested that their names be added to H.R. 25 as our two most recent co-sponsors.  This means that in only the first four months of the 110th Congress, we have surpassed the bill’s highest number of co-sponsors with a total of 60.  If you would like to read the press release I sent out today click here, http://linder.house.gov, and you will be taken to my online office where it is posted.
