LINDER STATEMENT ON AUTO BAILOUT
December 11, 2008
Contact: Derick Corbett
Washington, D.C. – Today, in response to the proposed bailout for the automobile industry, Congressman John Linder (GA-07) issued the following statement:
“We must not pick and choose the sectors of our economy to help when they are hurting; our current pain is universal. Instead of voting to assist automakers exclusively, Congress and the Administration must work to implement solutions that will encourage productivity and innovation, and remove the stranglehold of the Federal government by ending the burdensome taxation and over regulation of American businesses.”
“Until we address the fatal flaw of our deep rooted government intervention in the free market, we will never create an environment that will enable us to overcome these challenging times and benefit all stakeholders. When the government picks winners and losers, in the end, we all lose.”
