Congressman Yarmuth Votes for Small Business Tax Relief

Legislation Will Provide Boost for Business, Bring Momentum to Minimum Wage Increase

(Washington, DC)  Today, Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) voted to pass the Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2007.  The legislation includes $1.3 billion in tax cuts that will help small businesses grow and hire new workers to keep our economy strong.  The measure will extend and expand tax provisions through 2008 to help small businesses invest in new equipment and promote hiring of disadvantaged workers.

The bill, H.R. 976, was approved by the House by a vote of 360-45.

The bipartisan bill, which received unanimous Democratic support, is also supported by the Chamber of Commerce, American Farm Bureau Federation, National Restaurant Association, and the Bush Administration. The measure provides critical momentum to getting the minimum wage increase signed into law, which the House of Representatives passed last month.

"Because, small businesses are the strongest force driving our economy, this legislation provides a boost not only to entrepreneurs and their employees but for the community as a whole," Yarmuth said.
