Wilson considers the Picacho Rancher a dear friend
Albuquerque, NM- Congresswoman Heather Wilson issued the following statement today upon hearing that long-time New Mexico Congressman Joe Skeen will retire at the end of the 107th Congress.
“Joe Skeen is a New Mexico treasure, and I’m saddened to see him leave the Congress. He is a gentleman, an able legislator, a statesman, and a fierce advocate for the people of New Mexico.
“In particular, he welcomed me with open arms when I joined the ranks of the U.S. House in 1998. He became a mentor, a dear friend, and a respected and distinguished colleague. I feel I’m very lucky to have represented New Mexico with him.
“By retiring, our beloved Joe Skeen does, indeed leave large shoes to fill.”
