REAL EXPERIENCE: Summer Internship Opportunities for High School Students |
May 02, 2000 |

Dear Heather,
As you know, I am an intern in your Albuquerque office. I have the unique opportunity of working full time for the next month as part of my Senior Experience through Sandia Prep. I have noticed that you have numerous interns who work a variety of hours, depending on their schedules. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment to education-both in and out of the classroom. Your office is full of caring, supporting people who are interested and committed to both teaching me and learning from me.
Of all the skills that I have learned in your office, the importance of constituent service has been the most significant. It is my firm belief that people come first. On a day-to-day, real-life basis, how we, as human beings, treat one another is what really matters. The data entry skills, phone skills, media skills, and other basic office skills are secondary to the people skills that I have learned and will continue to develop during the time I work as an intern in your office. I understand now that what I learn in school must be tested in the real world. Application is one of the greatest lessons we can learn because skills and knowledge are wasted if they are not utilized.
Please allow me to extend my gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful opportunity. Your generosity and commitment to learning is not overlooked or forgotten.
Sincerely, Nicole Wunderlin Class of 2000 Sandia Preparatory High School
