Bill Includes $15 Million in Wilson Requests of Importance to NM
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Heather Wilson today welcomed this week’s House Appropriations Committee passage of the Fiscal Year 2006 Department of Defense Appropriations Bill with four of her requests that are important to New Mexico.
The legislation includes $15.4 million in specific requests by Rep. Wilson, chair of the Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The Intelligence Appropriations are contained in a classified annex to this Defense bill.
The research funded by these four projects would be conducted primarily in New Mexico. The Department of Defense Appropriations Bill is expected to be considered by the full U.S. House of Representatives next week.
“The American military is the best equipped, best trained, and most capable in the world, and New Mexico has an important role in that,” Wilson said. “These projects center on producing technologies that strengthen our national security. New Mexico is a leader in military research and development.”
Wilson Requests in the FY06 DOD Appropriations Bill
· $5 million for the Air Force, for research, development and testing of space technology, Integrated Control for Autonomous Space Systems (ICASS). This technology would improve U.S. capacity to deploy and control large structures in space.
