Welcome Home |

Dear Friends,
The flag was out at the VFW post in Las Vegas and the football field at New Mexico Highlands University was filled with families and well wishers as the 720th Transportation Company got a nice welcome home. Another dozen or so members of the 720th who live in Rio Rancho got a thank you at the Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday.
Their Commander, Captain Patrick Campos, and their First Sergeant, Rey Garduno, deserve a lot of credit for getting the job done and bringing everybody home.
The 720th are truck drivers and, as their 15 month tour in Iraq went on, became the targets of opportunity for ambushes and explosive devices along the 2.2 million road miles they traveled in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
There were some Purple Hearts and some Bronze Stars and some Army Commendation Medals awarded in Las Vegas, but it was clear that the biggest reward for the troops was being home with family again.
If you see a member of the Guard or Reserve or their families, remember to thank them. They have been carrying a heavier burden since September 11th -- both in the states and overseas. We are glad the 720th is home and we appreciate their service.
Warm Regards,
|
