Wilson Hails Nomination of Kevin Martin for FCC Chief March 16, 2005

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Heather Wilson, a member of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet, today released the following statement in reaction to the nomination of Kevin Martin to head the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

“I’ve worked with Kevin Martin in his role as an FCC Commissioner since 2001, and he’s done a great job. I’m very pleased with this nomination by President Bush.

“Kevin Martin has the background to lead the commission, protect consumers and keep the U.S. communications field at the forefront of technology and advancement in the 21st Century.”

Wilson works extensively with the FCC in her role on the Energy and Commerce Committee. Some of those issues include efforts to protect consumers from email spam and strengthen the FCC tools for enforcing broadcast decency.
