Dear Friends,
|
Watch this GOP Conference video about the on-going FISA debate in Congress. |
Last Saturday night at midnight, a vital intelligence law important to the protection of our nation was allowed to expire. The Senate has passed a reasonable bill by a wide bi-partisan majority to close an intelligence gap in our wiretapping laws so that we can listen to foreigners in foreign counties without a warrant. We know that a majority in the House—both Republicans and Democrats—support the Senate bill. But liberal House Democratic leaders who are opposed to the bill have refused to allow a vote on it.
Last week, after we had exhausted all procedural avenues open to us to get the bill considered, I joined my Republican colleagues in an effort to shine a bright spotlight on the risk to our nation. We walked out of the House chamber in protest.
Have a look at the video above to give you an idea where we are right now. If you’re as outraged as I am, I hope you’ll take a second to call Nancy Pelosi’s office and tell her so. You can reach her by calling the Capitol Switchboard at 202-225-3121.
Sincerely,
|
