Wilson Votes Against Budget Reconciliation December 19, 2005

Congresswoman Concerned with Medicaid Reductions & Digital TV Requirement
Washington — Congresswoman Heather Wilson today voted against Medicaid reductions that were part of the $41.8 billion budget bill (S. 1932) which passed early today 212-206 in the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Wilson released the following statement: “I again voted against this Act because the changes to Medicaid and fostercare are not in the interests of the people of New Mexico. I support comprehensive Medicaid reform that will change this system from one that pays claims to a modern system designed to improve the health of low-income Americans. I’m concerned this legislation shifts costs to states and individuals without significant reform that will improve people’s health. In addition, I opposed the mandatory transition from analog to digital television.” Rep. Wilson also voted against the bill November 18, 2005, when it initially passed the House 217-215. In the Energy and Commerce Committee, in late October, she also voted against the Medicaid reductions and the digital television conversion in the bill.
