Honeywell and Boeing Expected to Announce $150 Million Deal July 17, 2003

New Army Defense Contract Means an Estimated 100 New Jobs for New Mexicans
Albuquerque, NM - Congresswoman Heather Wilson today revealed that Boeing will soon announce a major contract with Honeywell, which has a significant presence in Albuquerque. The contract is expected to be worth more than $150 million overall for Honeywell and the New Mexico lawmaker says she expects that Honeywell will produce about 75% of the work for the sizeable contract at it`s Albuquerque facility. The Boeing Company and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) will announce on Thursday morning that Honeywell of Albuquerque has been selected as a new partner in the US Army Future Combat Systems (FCS) team. Wilson says this translates to an estimated 100 quality jobs in central New Mexico. "I`m very pleased by this decision. Honeywell is a good employer, with good paying jobs, and I look forward to welcoming more defense jobs in New Mexico," says Wilson, the only member of New Mexico`s congressional delegation who serves on a defense committee. Wilson, an Air Force veteran, is a member of the House Armed Services Committee which authorized funding for the Army`s FCS program. Honeywell is one of fifteen new partners selected from around the country to team up with Boeing and SAIC for the new phase of development in the Army`s Future Combat Systems program. The new partners will lead teams of approximately 70 companies chosen to play key development roles. FCS is a networked "system of systems" which uses communication technologies to link soldiers with both manned and unmanned ground and air platforms and sensors. FCS is part of the Army`s ambitious new plan to transform itself into a highly agile force of unprecedented versatility.
