The holiday season is rapidly approaching! So where can you find Christmas trees? Spend a day with family and friends in the Cibola National Forest and partake in the Christmas tree cutting program! Each household may purchase one permit for $10.00, and buy up to four additional permits for family and friends, names and addresses required. Permits will be available from November 21 through December 24.

"With the recent fire disasters, it is important to note that cutting Christmas trees helps thin overcrowded timber stands on National Forests," says Timber Management Officer Tom Marks. |
This year the following types of trees can be cut on the Cibola National Forest: Pinyon and Juniper, Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine, Blue Spruce, Engelmann Spruce, Sub-alpine Fir, and Southwestern White Pine (limber pine). In the Gallinas Mountains of the Mountainair Ranger District only Pinyon and Juniper trees can be cut.
