Washington, DC - Congresswoman Heather Wilson today received a briefing on homeland security preparations, and observed First Responder capabilities first-hand at New Mexico Tech in Socorro.
A car explosion at New Mexico Tech provided a compelling visual demonstration of First Responder activities and preparations. Wilson viewed activities at the West Valley First Responder Training Site near New Mexico Tech’s Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center.
“Dedicated people like you provide the backbone of our homeland security efforts,” Wilson said to First Responders. “You deserve the best in training and equipment to ensure safety and success.”
Wilson also toured two Albuquerque defense-related businesses, TPL and MIOX Corp. Both companies briefed Wilson on the capabilities and technologies of their products, and the role they can play in homeland security and defense.
“The defense technologies at work in New Mexico are great additions to our state,” Wilson said.
