3:05 P.M. -
On motion to adjourn Agreed to by voice vote.

The House adjourned. The next meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on November 20, 2008.

Mr. Welch (VT) moved that the House do now adjourn.

3:04 P.M. -
Mr. Welch (VT) asked unanimous consent that business in order under the Calendar Wednesday rule be dispensed with on Nov. 19. Agreed to without objection.

The House convened, returning from a recess continuing the legislative day of November 19.

1:32 P.M. -
The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is subject to the call of the Chair.

1:24 P.M. -
ADJUSTED WHOLE NUMBER OF THE HOUSE - Under clause 5(d) of rule 20, the Chair announced that, in light of the administration of the Oath of Office to the gentlewoman from Ohio, Ms. Fudge, the whole number of the House is 435.

1:23 P.M. -
OATH OF OFFICE - Representative-Elect Marcia L. Fudge, Eleventh District, State of Ohio, presented herself in the well of the House for the purpose of taking the Oath of Office which was administered by the Speaker of the House.

1:21 P.M. -
Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of the American Latino - Pursuant to Section 333(a)(2) of the Consolidated Natural Resources Act of 2008 (P.L. 110-229), the Minority Leader appointed Mrs. Rosa J. Correa of Bridgeport, Connecticut .

1:19 P.M. -
The House received a message from the Senate. The Senate agreed to the House amendment to S. 602.

The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received a message from the Secretary of the Senate on November 18, 2008, at 1:54 p.m. stating that that body had passed H.R. 5714 and agreed to the House amendment to S. 602.

1:18 P.M. -
The Speaker laid before the House a message from the President transmitting a certification pursuant to sec. 115(a)(2) of PL. 110-343. - referred to the Committee on Financial Services and ordered to be printed (H. Doc. 110-158).

1:17 P.M. -
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Skelton to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.

1:15 P.M. -
Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Daniel Coughlin.

1:14 P.M. -
NOTIFICATION OF THE REASSEMBLY OF THE HOUSE - Pursuant to section 2 of the House Concurrent Resolution 440, after consultation with the Minority Leader of the House and the Minority Leader of the Senate, the Speaker notificed the House that the public interest requires that the House reassemble at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, the Senate already being in session.

The Speaker designated the Honorable Michael R. McNulty to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.

1:13 P.M. -
Pursuant to section 2 of House Concurrent Resolution 440, 110th Congress, the House will be in order.

The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
