Sessions Announces Military Outreach Initiative with the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) today joined Gordon Echtenkamp, President and CEO of YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, and military families to announce the YMCA and Department of Defense $31 million Military Outreach Initiative. Underwritten by the Department of Defense and designed for eligible military families of deployed or relocated service members, the YMCA Military Outreach Initiative will provide military families with access to youth development, family strengthening, and health and well-being programs at community YMCAs nationwide – including 22 North Texas YMCA locations.

Sessions Applauds Grand Opening of Phoenix House IMPACT Program for At-Risk Youth

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) today joined U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, Dallas ISD Trustee Dr. Edwin Flores, Phoenix House Executive Vice President Monty Mueller for the Grand Opening announcement of the Phoenix House after-school program Intervention Moves Parents and Children Together (IMPACT) for at-risk youth. “Phoenix House serves as a pillar of hope in the North Texas community as a leading-edge substance abuse treatment and prevention organization, and I am proud to be a strong supporter of their efforts,” said Sessions. “By taking their highly successful treatment programs and developing a vibrant after-school prevention program, Phoenix House IMPACT will provide our community with a safe and structured after-school alternative for high-risk teens.”

Sessions Secures 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin for Boy Scouts of America

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) today announced congressional approval of the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act (H.R. 5872) authorizing the “100 Years of Scouting” commemorative coin in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America in 2010. The U.S. Senate passed the measure by unanimous consent on Saturday, September 27, following House approval on May 15, 2008. The bill will now be sent to President Bush to be signed into law.
