Thank you for visiting my congressional website. As you navigate this site, you will find information about Maryland, the Federal Government, and my work in the US Congress. However, you will also notice that parts of the site have been shut down or eliminated, and there have been no recent news postings.
As you may know, based on the results of Maryland’s Republican primary this past February, my name will not appear on the ballot for the general election in November 2008. My tenure in the House of Representatives will come to an end with the final adjournment of the current Congress.
As I wind down my congressional operation and prepare to leave office, my legislative staff has departed for other jobs and opportunities. With their departure, I am no longer able to respond to the hundreds of e-mails that were sent via this site each week. Staff and time constraints have also meant the phase out of news postings and certain services my Capitol Hill office has offered over the past 18 years.
In just a few months, I will be home on the Eastern Shore and a constituent, like you. And I will be hoping that our new Representative will make the Bay and Eastern Shore a priority for his work in Congress, and that he will work hard for a positive, productive political atmosphere in Congress and throughout Maryland's First District. In the meantime, I’ll continue to do the job I was elected to do in Congress. And I will continue to welcome your input. Please feel free to call any one of my offices. Thank you.
