HURRICANE IKE RECOVERY
Before Hurricane Ike's arrival, Rep. Nick Lampson requested the aid of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Program. The unit who staffed the House Emergency Response Communication (HERC) truck pre-positioned themselves just outside of Ike's path to be ready to respond as efficiently as possible. The truck arrived at Ellington Field on September 16th, and provided 200 laptop computers with internet connectivity and 200 cell phones. In all, over 6000 residents across Southeast Texas visited the command center to find help and register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
