Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Timothy V. Johnson today announced the award of a $70,903 grant to the Mattoon Fire Department.
The grant is for operations and safety purposes and is being made through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
“This is a valuable source of funding for departments like Mattoon’s and I’m happy to be able to help,” Rep. Johnson said. “These grants have been extremely helpful in getting our first-responders the tools they need to do their very difficult jobs.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is part of the Administration’s larger, coordinated effort to strengthen the nation’s overall preparedness for fire and emergency-related disasters.
