Grants will Provide Technical Assistance and Promote Economic Development throughout the State
Washington, DC-Congresswoman Heather Wilson announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce will be awarding economic development grants to a number of New Mexico communities and colleges. The grants are being awarded to help the grantees continue their economic development planning programs and provide technical assistance to the communities they cover.
“By encouraging investments in local communities, we can grow our economy and create more and better jobs for New Mexicans,” said Wilson. “With this grant these communities can accommodate economic growth and provide updated services to existing businesses.”
“I congratulate these communities on receiving the economic development grants,” said Congressman Steve Pearce. “I look forward to the grants facilitating economic growth in our communities.”
The following communities in New Mexico will receive EDA grants: · New Mexico State University, Las Cruces ($100,000) · Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell ($100,000) · Eastern Plains Council of Governments, Clovis ($51,000) · Mid-Region Council of Governments, Albuquerque ($51,000) · North Central New Mexico Economic Development District, Santa Fe ($51,000) · Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments, Gallup ($51,000) · South Central New Mexico Council of Governments, Elephant Butte ($51,000) · Southwest New Mexico Council of Governments, Silver City ($51,000)
