JOBS AND ECONOMY
U.S. Rep. Alexander believes in lowering taxes. He supports making President Bush’s tax cuts permanent because when people keep more of their own money our economy and the country grow stronger. Cutting taxes on small businesses allows them to invest and create jobs and opportunities for others.
TRANSPORTATION
As a member of the Appropriations Committee in the House of Representatives, Rodney is ideally positioned to help our area address its transportation needs. Rodney will bring our concerns about Highways 84, 165 and 167 and Interstates 20 and 49 “to the forefront” of the legislative process on Capitol Hill. Improving our infrastructure will make our area stronger economically and lead to new job creation.
WAR ON TERROR AND HOMELAND SECURITY
The War on Terror is a war America must win. We need an aggressive policy that centers on destroying terrorists where they hide. We also need to be ready at home by increasing security at our ports and borders.
HEALTHCARE
Rodney Alexander believes that we must make quality health care both more affordable and more available. He supports Health Savings Accounts which allow people to save, tax free, to pay for medical expenses. Rodney is also working to allow Americans to buy safe, FDA approved prescription drugs from Canada.
PROTECTING OUR SENIORS
Rodney Alexander is completely dedicated to protecting Social Security for current recipients as well as future generations. He is also proud to have supported adding a prescription drug benefit to Medicare. This voluntary benefit will help seniors afford the medicine they need.
PROTECTING OUR VALUES
Louisiana is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. U.S. Rep. Alexander is protecting our values and way of life. He supports Americans’ right to bear arms and he is strongly pro-life. He also believes in the sanctity of marriage and supports a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
EDUCATION
Rodney Alexander believes that every child is entitled to a quality education. Rodney works hard in Congress to make sure that no child is denied the opportunity to learn and achieve.
Rodney supports increased federal funding for local schools. He wants to use this money to reduce class size and increase the presence of technology in the classroom. Rodney wants funding for training teachers in the use of technology. He also supports initiatives that will put more computers and internet access in every classroom.
Rodney also strongly believes that not all the answers to reforming education reside in Washington DC. That is why he supports allowing local educators and parents to play a greater role when it comes to making decisions about schools.
VETERANS
America owes an enormous debt of gratitude to our veterans. Rodney will do everything in his power to ensure that America never forgets the sacrifices our veterans have made and that we honor our commitments to them.
Rodney is working to make sure that the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsive to the needs of veterans. He also is fighting to make sure Veterans receive the healthcare and pension benefits to which they are entitled.
