U.S. Food Service Employs 150 New Mexicans
Albuquerque, NM – When it comes to chow time in New Mexico’s military installations, 150 New Mexicans help feed hungry soldiers, airmen, and their families. United Foodservice, Inc., with a significant Albuquerque operation, was awarded a $5.7 million contract today by the Defense Logistics Agency to provide troop food service.
“Make no mistake,” said Congresswoman Heather Wilson, “Chow time is important to the men and women of the United States Military. It appears that U.S. Foodservice, and the 150 New Mexicans they employ, have done a good job of feeding people in our New Mexico installations, and they’ll continue to do that for at least another year.”
U.S. Foodservice, a company based in Columbia, Maryland, provides food service at more than 80 locations throughout the country. Their New Mexico operation provides all food service for Kirtland, Cannon, and Holloman Air Force bases, as well as for the Army’s Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX. The contract covers the dining halls and child care centers for all ages.
This the third year of a 5-year renewable contract. The contract must be reviewed and approved each year by the Defense Logistics Agency.
